The Deck Chair system – comprised of an adjustable joist and a rubber mount – is the brainchild of Lester Haycock (founder of CMS – Construction Marketing Services and FPB – (Future Proof Building) and Glenn Mitchell, a recognised  LPB builder with 30+ years’ experience.

Lester and Glenn developed the system in response to a growing need for a cost-effective, supportive substructure for laying decks over concrete and membrane surfaces, allowing level entry to meet code compliance for drainage and entry height requirements.

Made from a composite rubber derived from recycled car tires, the Deck Chair Joist Mount is manufactured by one of the world’s leading rubber recycling companies, with decades of industry experience in producing a range of composite rubber surfaces that are hardwearing and long lasting – from playgrounds to sports tracks and hundreds of other uses. The Deck Chair joist mount memorably became nicknamed the “rubber nipple” during debut showings at NZ Building Inspector and NZ Master Builder gatherings.)

Made from H 3.2 grade laminated veneer lumber (LVL), the Deck Chair Adjustable Joist is produced by a leading NZ supplier, and will  withstand warping and twisting over time.
